Introduction to Insulating Glass
Insulating Glass consists of two or more panes of glass separated by a hermetically sealed spacer. The cavity between the glass panes is filled with dry air, argon, krypton, or other inert gases, which significantly reduces heat transfer through conduction and convection. To further improve thermal performance, Low-E coatings may be applied to the glass surface, effectively reflecting infrared radiation while allowing visible light to pass through.
